3/20/17, 6:49 AM - It is interesting you mention this, considering that this particular wine you choose to make this comment about is from one of the wines they ARE producing from 100% Texas Grapes (from the Cobb Family Vineyard....it even says that on the bottle!!!). They are truthful and forthcoming about the grapes they DO import from California, and do not sell any FSITO wine. It is common for producers to make wines from grapes of other origins. If they cannot produce the wine they want to produce from adequate quality Texas grapes, why should YOU be the judge where they source the grapes as long as they divulge that?

3/20/17, 10:30 AM - To MFlesh: Kuhlman was one of the first Hill Country wineries I visited, and I did enjoy and buy some of their wines, but have since discovered other local wineries using only Texas grapes, and it is my opinion that wines should be made from grapes grown in their regions, considering all of Texas to be a region.

3/20/17, 11:13 AM - So, you'll be sad to know that all of Texas is not considered ONE VITICULTURAL REGION. There is a Hill Country AVA, a High Plains AVA, and six others, (but the first two account for the most). If a winery has their "HQ" in Fredericksburg, yet sources all of their grapes from the High Plains, that's no different than a winery that has their "HQ" in Sacramento, CA and sources their grapes from Napa Valley! As long as the wine is labeled "Napa Valley", do you care? (Bet not!). Hill Country fruit tastes different from High Plains fruit, which tastes different from Texoma Fruit, etc. etc. That's why Texas isn't ONE AVA. You probably do know that most Texas producers buy grapes from all AVA's and then labels the bottle "Texas." Are you FOR that or AGAINST that? Blending grapes from all over the state in different AVA's is more of a travesty to me than sourcing 100% of grapes from a particular vineyard, EVEN IF that vineyard is outside the state's borders. If you can't make a wine from grapes grown in this state, does that make one particular winery a place to NOT support? Of course not, because the profits still benefit the State of Texas and a Texas winemaker. It just tells Texas grape growers that they need to make BETTER GRAPES so that the grape sales are kept in the state as well!

3/20/17, 4:51 PM - I am sad to know that all of Texas is not considered ONE VITICULTURAL REGION, and I am sad to know how much I don't know about all this grape business. But I don't care. I still want Texas winemakers to use Texas grapes. Just born that way.
