  March 19, 2017 - A baby GG and very much in its infancy in terms of drinking as well. Shows a bit more on day two, but still tight. Clearly a very good von der Fels, as expected given the vintage. There's a sense of clever restraint to this wine. Instead of pushing the great material to the limit we're presented with a wine that is crystalline in its purity and with harmonious balance. Mineral driven with white floral top notes, citrus and some pink grapefruit. The grapefruit comes back on the finish with a hint of bitterness, which works well. I'm convinced that this will develop very nicely, but as always it's going to be a challenge to leave these bottles in peace in the cellar.
