May 18, 2017 - Had the 2005 and 2007 side by side. Honestly, the hype on these wines is out of control. I'm not sure on what basis wine pundits, including several on this forum, are prognosticating that these wines will live forever and improve. There's no history much past the 2001 vintage and all through this period, Keller has been learning. Good marketing job at a minimum.

The 2007 is a bit heavier on the note and on the palate than the 2005 with more pronounced tropical fruit notes. Overall wine comes across as less attractive and flat on the palate than the 2005 and suffers similarly vs the 2009 vintage in terms of the acid structure, attack and length. Wine was decanted over 12 hours.

Overall, a lesser G-Max which at current pricing levels should be a straight pass.
