August 25, 2017 - @ Penfolds Wine evening at 'Les Cavistes'. Very dry tannins. This wine was very closed, after being opened 3 hours prior I was expecting more however I feel this wine was missing something. It was still great however compared to the other 389's it was disappointing. Smokey. It worked a lot better with some beautiful confit d'agneau however this is one of those wines that need some food to elevate it. If holding some of these bottles I would recommend leaving another few more years prior to opening.

8/26/17, 12:13 AM - Nice. I have 3 left & want to keep them down for another 5+ years & i think it has the legs in it. I might open one in a year or two to see how it's going though.

10/2/17, 2:10 PM - Depending on your storage conditions, I would hold off opening another this decade. I get the feeling an interesting wine is lurking in the background- it just hasn’t come out to play yet. This seems to be a very common theme with many of the 04 from South Australia.
