September 2, 2017 - Open & decanted for 40 minutes. paired with a grilled filet.
Nice dark purple and this bottle did not show any bricking or color changes around the edges. Warm and solid nose of black fruits and berries, oak spices, leather and mineral whiffs.
Amazing on the palate.... The tannins and acids are well balanced, the dark fruits are still front and center with allspice, leather, vanilla and that mineral finish.

9/10/17, 5:55 AM - You scored a case of nice wine, good for you! This is my first experience with Ackerman wines and I like what I have seen so far. I bought a small vertical, 05, 06, & 07 from an auction site for about $60.00 each so a minimal investment. I will try the 06 & 07 over the next year and see if I still love what I tasted in the 05. I was not aware that they donate to charity with their sales, that is good to know thank you.
