September 26, 2017 - My first experience of this wine. Appearance still dark and youthful. Thick. Nose a little indistinct, I'd hazard dark fruits, some plum, rich cassis, chocolate. In the mouth I'm into the Rhone here, syrah, maybe a bit CNdP-ish. Very well fruited although indistinct. Tannins are fine but still very much in evidence. Nothing whatsoever to remind me of a bordeaux blend. Perhaps I'd liken it somewhat to a Cheval des Andes in its rich, fruity, smooth (that word again) profile. But hang on, here come some blackcurrant notes and a touch of pencil case- but only a touch. No danger of this attenuating any time soon but I suspect it's becoming a bit imprecise. Whatever, I'm quibbling because I've looked on the back of the label and am expecting a Bordeaux. On its own merits I have to say it's an extremely nice bottle of wine, warm, fruitful, comforting, unchallenging but definitely repaying time spent with it.
