  October 13, 2017 - 91-93. Tough tasting day, given the fires in the North Bay and the toxic air quality happening here in the East Bay. So aromas today are unfortunately only too muted/confused. But this wine still sings through the Delillo-esque Airborne Toxic Event we're all muddling through -- soy/umami/black olive/mushrooms/red currants/wild strawberries on the palate. As always with Peciña, it overdelivers on value. Why and how we're allowed to get a glorious, prime-of-drinking-window, 11-year-old Vendimia Seleccionada from one of the two great classicist producers in Rioja (I like LdH, but I'm not a La Rioja Alta fan) for chump change is beyond me.
