    October 15, 2017 - Initial impression

Nose is fairly forest floor toned with hints of medicinal notes and an underlying sweetness. Rather light on the palate, lacks any sense of richness and is moderately structured, a touch too much acid, then finishes with lovely wild cherry fruit and subtle hints of angelica root and green herb adding detail. There's sweetness and length to the finish, though not a ton of complexity. 86-87pts

There's more candied sweetness to the red fruit on the nose now along with a gentle meatiness along with a fine white mineral snap along with a hint of sage The palate has filled out considerably, with cranberry and tart cherry fruit early on the palate supported by rather fine if slightly austere tannins. Subtle and detailed on the palate, the tannins become more assertive through the lengthening, dustily mineral finish. Lovely austerity and length here, though this seems to lack a bit of depth. 88-89pts

Spicier on the nose but at the same time flatter and less effusive with a cinnamon candy quality. Again a touch meaty on entry, then this turns texturally a touch chunky on the palate and even a bit hot through the finish. The fruit tightens up, showing a more candied quality through the shortening finish. A bit muddied even at this stage. Not a great showing and doesn’t seem like it’s going to sort itself out that much. 87pts
