Community Tasting Note

  • Jochems Likes this wine: 93 points

November 4, 2017 - This wine has now become somewhat more approachable and harmonious. It now actually starts to taste a bit like a good Brunello at release.

The aromas still have some fresh strawberry notes but the more darker cherry and black currant aromas are becoming a bit more evident now. Also hints of leather and spices emerge after some time in the glas. The palate is full bodied and has mouth coating silky layers of tannins. The acidity is fresh and vibrant staying all the way through to a very long finish.

It is a pleasure to see this wine evolving. It still doesn’t show the complexity and refinement of the ‘04 or ‘06 but there clearly are all the signs that this wine will improve over the next years. For now I rate this wine at 93pt with the expectation that it will move a few notches up.

Drink now if you like wines young and fresh but wait at least a few years if you appreciate complexity and refinement.
