December 11, 2017 - Utterly compelling Cotes du Rhone that would put many Chateauneufs to shame. Very ripe blackberry/black raspberry and kirsch on the nose with some minerality. Ripe fruit on the palate is more jellied than jammy and well kept in check by some nice cigar and tobacco notes and good acidity. Yum! NB - this has been in professional storage since I took delivery from Garagiste back in 2010.

I have generally not been a big fan of 2007 southern rhones (too alcoholic and extracted) but am wondering if waiting on them yields better results as I've been very happy with the Cotes du Rhones I've opened in the past 2 years. Will the Chateauneufs be better with a few more years of aging?
