December 23, 2017 - A solid bottle with beautiful aromatics, black fruit, tobacco, pencil lead, and soil notes that translated well on the palate, which was moderately full bodied but fairly elegant, if slight rustic due to the savory flavor profile and remains of once more aggressive and still slightly austere tannins. The finish was long and fine, really showing the strength of the wine. Nonetheless this is a fine, mature bottle of Bordeaux which far outclassed the 89 today for lunch. It's at peak, and should remain there for more than a decade, though there is no reason not to drink them.
