January 21, 2018 - Visitors from Wellington brave the wilds of Luggate (Luggate, New Zealand): Stunning ripe, and refined nose of black fruits and currants. Th impression of ripeness (which never veers into sur maturite) and class continue on the palate, which is long, fat and layered. As with many warm climate wines, this lacks a certain transparency, but it is in no way monolithic. Huge tannin structure brings definition to the opulence of the palate. At 14, the wine feels approachable, but I have very high hopes for the future. If the wine develops a more transparent mouthfeel with time, I think my score will be conservative. Lovely stuff.
