Community Tasting Note

  • Rich S Likes this wine: 90 points

January 22, 2018 - Popped and poured. Light to medium garnet color. Nose of dried red berry fruits, mushroom, wet earth and a little tobacco. Similar flavors on the palate along with red plum and cedar cigar box. Medium acidity, tannins mostly fully resolved, medium body. Sweet red fruit note on the finish. Very nicely aged mature Bordeaux. Not sure what else you can ask for. Have 1 bottle left that I will drink in the next year or so.

1/23/18, 2:54 PM - I know your note is positive, but I think I liked this bottle more than you did. (Thanks for sharing it!) I thought it was just a lovely wine in a perfect place in its evolution. The mouthfeel, soft and rounded, was lovely, and there was not a hint of surmaturite, oak flavors, or anything overdone. I thought this was way more enjoyable to drink last night than the 2000 Lynch Bages we had next to it (which will probably make older bones but is still years away from being something I could really enjoy).

1/24/18, 6:06 AM - Thanks Marty. I definitely enjoyed it as well. Certainly in a great spot right now for mature Bordeaux. Overall the wines were great. Hope to see you at future events!

1/26/18, 11:21 AM - I agree with Marty! Definitely was more enjoyable than the LB (which is weird since a lot of people seem to be enjoying the LB recently, but it was not showing very well)
