January 28, 2018 - Pearl of Burgundy 2016 en Primeur tasting (Hong Kong): Holy cow, what a nose for a village wine, animatic, spices, herbs. Can’t believe how good this is. Candidate for best village ever wine.

1/30/18, 5:19 PM - You are right of course. Some time ago I decided to use the term village more broadly because there are only 3 levels of vineyard quality in Burgundy. 1.GC, 2.PC and 3. Non-ranked (vineyards that merely carry the name of a place/area without carrying an additional ranking mark). If you blend a barrel Vosne Village with a barrel of Gevrey village you have to call it Bourgogne or something like Cote de Nuits. Fact is, it is still Village-level fruit in those wines. French "logic". :-)
