January 24, 2018 - A very deep colour; full, rich, very young still, even a bit brutal, with intense, smoky, blackberry fruit, plenty of substance, and good length. Perhaps less developed than the previous bottle, but certainly a profound wine; approachable now but with much more development ahead.

3/20/18, 7:24 PM - I have a case of this vintage so could try a bottle early, but really don't prefer to experiment needlessly. Have had this in a dozen vintages and enjoy the style. My question is two fold: 1) have you had enough '10's to gauge what the "vintage style is with CDP as opposed to the last handful; 2) do you have any thoughts on drinking CDP at 10-13 years of age, i.e. during a so-called "adolescent stage". Any thoughts on timing? My experience/preference with CDP is wait to age 13-15 generally. I have a few cases of '10's in my cellar but haven't started trying any of them, and frankly haven't tried many '07's. Thoughts?

3/23/18, 1:21 AM - Thank you for your comment, Magnum PI. In answer to your questions: (1) I have had only about 4 bottles of 2010 Châteauneuf, of which 3 were Ch de Beaucastel (in a restaurant). On the basis of that limited sample, I would say the vintage style is full and rich, and potentially long lasting. (2) I tend to drink Châteauneuf at around 8 - 12 years, but Ch de Beaucastel lasts longer than most. I am currently drinking 2006 Beaucastel, which is just about ready, but have not started either 2005 or 2007 yet. I have only 3 bottles of the 2010 in my own cellar, and will leave those for at least 5 years. I hope that helps.

3/23/18, 6:33 AM - Thank you very much. I tend to buy my CDP's in 3's or cases, so I can experiment a bit, although I prefer to try to hit the sweet spot from the outset. Who hasn't committed a little infanticide thought, right? I haven't started my '05 Ceaucastel's yet either, or my '07's. Have not really opened too many '07's from any producer but I am thinking about starting next year. The responses I have received regarding the '10's seems to be that these will be 25 year wines no problem. Thanks for your response! Very much appreciated!
