February 20, 2018 - Tremendously opulent, gorgeous mouthfeel, and constantly evolving Pomerol flavors. Much more alive than expected. Needs at least an hour to open up---my rating escalated substantially as the wine opened over a further hour.

Dark ruby color, fading to a slightly orange rim. Initially, slight caramel on the nose, reflecting a touch of oxidation. Followed by bitter chocolate, tobacco, and slight red fruit. Eventually some Asian spice emerges. On the palate, incredible concentration of flavor. Ripe dark fruit. Some dried red fruit. Slight menthol sits atop gravelly earth. Eventually, even smokier than a Lafleur---like a very fine Cuban cigar. Extremely luxurious mouthfeel---the most velvety body I've experienced in wine. Very long finish, with bitter chocolate and tobacco leaf.
