February 19, 2018 - Unit D's SCHOOL OF SELOSSE Champagne Tasting (Shady Acres. Houston, TX): NV

Unit D's School of Selosse Champagne Tasting

    Group Note

A: Pale gold, fine persistent mousse
N: Pear, apricot, lots of physalis, ripe apple, caramel and red fruit. Developing
P: Aroma confirmed. There is also real wet stone here. Dry, highest acid of any in the tasting thus far (4th tasted), medium across the board for the remainder of the structure.
C: This wine is 100% Pinot Noir and shows great layers. Much of Bouchards land in the Cote de Bar lies on Kimmeridgian marl subsoil like in grand cru Chablis areas to the South of it. Non vintage but has April 2017 disgorgement date. This is crisp and fresh with some more exotic fruit to accompany the pomacious, red berry and stone fruit. Roses de Jeannes is a tiny domaine in the Cote de Bar.
Bouchard is one of Selosse's students and i still think that his Le Creux d'Enfer (single vineyard, 3 pinot noir vines owned by Bouchard zero dosage rosé) is the best rose champagne available (find it, drink it, love it!).
This Roses de Jeanne was $68, i bought it in Arlequin Wine Merchant in San Francisco and it shows super QPR. Might be it again but there is so much fine champagne to try out there, it will take me a while to get back around to it.

10/16/18, 5:26 AM - Since you are into details, would you consider correcting the detail of the vintage year, please? A vintage 2017 champagne is not available in February 2018. Most probably this was a non-vintage (NV).
