February 25, 2018 - I think this wine is in its plateau of maturity and it’s a well integrated full flavored wine with good concentration, some minerals, and deep plummy fruit.it should still last quite a while.

7/30/18, 11:22 AM - Its been a while but from memory I don't decant that wine but stand it up and give it a half hour of air at least. Typically I like to let a wine open up in the glass unless its so tightly locked that decanting is the only way to drink it that night (often do this with Barolo and similar tannic wines). My take on the Vatican Sixtine is it has buckets of fruit, terroir and tannin but is fairly forward. Your comment suggests your bottles are still pretty tight, maybe a colder cellar?

7/30/18, 7:51 PM - Thank you for your note. Our wine is stored at 55 degrees, and maybe it has not blossomed as much as you note. The fruit has been so tight and atypical of prior experience with The Sixtine. I expected something open, and will keep experimenting to crack the code.

    Cheers.
