March 10, 2018 - Acidic, tart and full of dark mountain fruit. Slow ox for five hours followed by a long decant. The thing that initially struck me was how much different this vintage was compared to the earthy and strong tannins of the 2013 vintage. Dunn is a most unique wine compared to its neighboring Napa fruit bombs, the obvious result of a refreshingly low alcohol content. Well structured with a very long and lingering finish, this wine will be several points higher with a few years behind it. Too young now to show its stuff, but with patience and time... lots of time, the 2014 Dunn will likely compete with the the top tiered wines of this vintage.

4/14/18, 6:39 PM - Hi Justin S. I found the 2013 (compared to the 2014) Dunn HM to be substantially more tannic, with heavy notes of earth, mineral and graphite. To me the 2014 had more dark fruit notes, was very approachable but not nearly as complex. About a month ago I contacted the vineyard to see if I could purchase a few more of the 2013 HM. I very nice lady by the name of Erin accommodated my request, but she mentioned that the winery had been recommending to customers to consider drinking the 2014 before the 2013. Hope this helps.
