March 27, 2018 - This is a monumental Lalande, the best since 1982. Pull the cork and you know that you are in for a special experience. Pauillac through and through, the nose delights with hints of green pepper, briar patch, menthol, cassis, clear red cherry, tobacco, earth, and pencil. The palate has really filled out now and there is a massive infusion of fruit that was missing before. Velvet in the mouth and layer after layer of Pauillac complexity. I actually think that well stored bottles of this wine may continue to improve, my singular thought. 98 Pts

3/27/18, 10:18 PM - Glad to read your review. I have 6 magnums in an OWC. Did you decant? I've been reluctant to open one of these mags for fear it won't be ready. I typically never drink Bordeaux unless it has 20 plus years of age, more for mags. Thanks, Marc

3/28/18, 5:49 PM - Hi Moonie, I did not decant, but consumed a perfectly stored 750 over about a 10 hour period. Based on your stated preference, I would be reluctant to open a magnum until another 5 years has passed. I still believe that this wine can improve, especially the larger format. I hope that this is sound advice and best of luck with it, cheers.
