April 3, 2018 - I had the 13 SS last year and was pleased enough with it to grab a bottle of the 2014. I gave up on the regular bottling of Caymus like most others on here since they went over the top, but thought the SS would still be safe. I was mistaken. On pnp the nose was candied and sweet with some alcohol and got me nervous immediately. The first sips were fine and sort of eased my concern. Black fruits some definite oak present but had some energy and a decent finish. With about 15 minutes of air the sweetness kicked in. The nose remained and the wine just became extremely cloying and unpleasant. I somehow finished the glass and returned the bottle to slow ox at 55 degrees.
Day 2 the nose was still somewhat off putting and way too sweet. On the palate the sweetness subsided to the point of being drinkable but never reached anything overly enjoyable. I guess the SS is out for me also.
