May 16, 2008 - The color on this one had me a bit puzzled as it's showing some orange tint on the edges of a deep garnet - suggesting to me oxidation a little earlier than I'd expect. There isn't a lot going on in the glass. In the 1st hour the nose showed raspberry and mocha note - actually a very pretty nose but the mid-palate was devoid of any fruit or really any flavor at all. It's got decent acidity and paired fairly well with a salad of spinach, steak, roasted pecan, and dressed with a touch of balsamic vinaigrette. Brief finish with the mocha note. 2 hours in there's a little more fruit there but it is more toward cherry with some milky oak rounding out the finish. There's also very little tannin so it's smooth and slides down easily. A decent enough bottle for the price but nothing that rocked my world.
