June 16, 2018 - Still very dark garnet and totally opaque, with no brown at the edges. Fabulous, pronounced nose of plums, blackberries, smoke, roast meat, complex. Huge on the palate, with flavors to match, deep and robust but round, still with loads of fruit, and no hint of overripe. Very full-bodied and concentrated without being thick, heavy, or tannic. The alcohol is quite high and hot, though. Aftertaste is very rich, deep, and long. A fabulous wine which has aged perfectly and still at its peak. I think it will hold for a few more years, but why wait? One of the best Shirvingtons!

Of the wines being made by Sarah & Sparky Marquis (no longer together) in 2001-2004, including Henry's Drive, Marquis Philips, Parson's Flat, and Shirvington, I've consistently thought Shirvington was best, especially the shiraz. Fortunately I still have 15 left from that time period. Hopefully they'll still be as great as this last bottle, but I'm prepared that some others may not. Bottle variation is a fact of wine life.
