May 24, 2008 - Opened and poured - no decanting. Very tight upon opening. Left the bottle open for an hour, and re-visited. Time was this wine's friend, as it kept improving with every passing minute. After it opened up, the nose is outstanding - a combination of floral, spicy red fruit, a little gaminess/meatiness and lots of complexity. Early on, the palate revealed a little oak, but that faded away with time, and the palate took on the characteristics of the nose. Bright, spicy, lively red fruit, balancing acidity, along with minerality and a meaty note in the background. Picked these up for $20 on Wine Commune - wish I had bought more.
