Community Tasting Note

July 18, 2018 - If you have been hearing about the level of wines from Vieux Chateau Certan and you want to know what all the fuss is about, this is the wine to open. This is so sultry, sexy, silky and opulent, it is clearly in a league of its own. The fruit is perfectly ripe. There is a decadence to the texture that grips you and does not let go. The wine is rich, dense and intense, yet light on its feet. There are no edges. The wine is perfectly seamless.
Wines at this level do not come around often. This is a legend in the making.

7/18/18, 10:43 AM - Thanks for the note, Jeff. Do you prefer the 09 or 10 VCC?

7/18/18, 11:31 AM - Excellent! How's it evolving? Can you glimpse its arc yet or is it young and too soon to tell?

7/18/18, 12:27 PM - Ibet... Probably equal, but I’d need to compare them sudd by side. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the 10.

Mis... Forgive me, but I don’t understand your question. I tried to express my thoughts with my note.

7/18/18, 1:55 PM - 'How long do you see it aging and how far from maturity do you think it is,' is basically my question.

  • Jeff Leve commented:

7/18/18, 3:27 PM - MIS... I am sure it will age and evolve for at least 40 years or more. If you like young wines and you have a case, pop a bottle. If you like secondary notes, or just have a bottle or two, wait until 2025.

11/12/18, 1:57 PM - Jeff always appreciate your thoughts. Do you remember if you decanted?

  • Jeff Leve commented:

11/12/18, 2:51 PM - This bottle was popped and poured at the property. If it was mine, 2 hours or so is about right. Long decants IMO, are not healthy for a wine.
