  May 29, 2008 - Nice experience for this Rhone rookie. The nose was intoxicatingly complex showing leather, smoke, meat, mineral to faint sweat sock. Quite different from the Santa Barbara Syrah's that I have been enjoying as well. If I could do this one again I would enjoy with simpler flavors to let the wine show better then competing with the wonderful layered and complex dishes at Cafe Matisse. The last glass on day two was equally compelling. I don't see a reason to "drink up" its still got life left, but it is drinking nicely.
