October 6, 2018 - pnp on this one to let it breathe. Will see change no doubt in an hour or so. This wine is beautifully jeweled brick and mahogany in the glass. Love the color. Funny as it seemed to take a minute to clear. Came off more dull on the pour but then,... wow. The brown notes would seem to indicate age but at 6 years this one is still a toddler I think.

Just one of the prettier visual wines I've had. The nose screams elegance in style. Cherry and cedar core with a backdraft of cigar box. The palate keeps pace withe nose. Cherry dominates the raspberry on the fruit profile and then cedar, tobacco, fine leather and orange peel accent the full palate. Wine feels warm with crisp tannins and is moderately tanic but the tanins are well integrated. The pucker comes on the end if you let it linger. Balance is great and I have a feeling will even be better integrated in an hour or so. The wine seems ready but it also seems young. I have a couple bottles more and am anxious to revisit as it ages. I will also try to update this note in a couple hours to reflect the fully aerated effect.
