October 6, 2018 - Medium burgundy ruby with medium optical density and high specular reflectivity. Appealing and delicate aromas, with cherry, roses, and some light spices and rich mixed berries on the back end. Medium minus body, with tannins that have melted in, creating a fine, even texture. Acidity is bright and refreshing. Flavours of cherry and juicy mixed berries on the attack. Very vivid and fruit-forward. The midpalate brings in some florals and light aromatic forest floor, and is really interesting, but delicate. The finish is of light spiced berries and clean, fresh tobacco smoke. Medium length here. Overall, medium intensity and complexity, but a thoughtful elegance that is perfect for pairing with food.

Very delicious without being jammy or overly juicy, but there is fresh and vivid fruit here for sure. Really nicely balanced overall, and while not the most complex wine, it is certainly a delight. This can age further without much doubt, and while there is a hint of vinous character here now, it seems like it is just entering a phase where it could be absolutely great, but for now it falls just short of that. Like it is just peaking its head up from behind the peak and saying "I'll get there soon!" Nice, old-world styling on display here, for a classic 1er Cru experience. Not otherworldly, but solid, drinkable, delicious, and very typical. Tough to rate, because it is missing the "it" factor perhaps, but yet, it is just so good!
