October 25, 2018 - Decanted 30 min. Translucent, orangy brownish rim. At first I thought f**k, smell of VA. But then the first sip confirmed the hot vintage. Shoe polish, brandied, brown sugar, ripe nose. Carries right onto to the delicate, soft palate. Dry, burnt citrus, molasses, dirty tobacco, hints of dark fruit (blackberries, black cherries) but completely overpowered by the ripe vintage which exudes a brandied, brown sugar, walnutty profile. Tannins are fine and soft but the flavors aren't doing it for me. Love me some Bartolo but not in this vintage. Don't see this going anywhere. Drink up or sell.
