October 19, 2018 - First of 8 bottles, and probably the first of my bigger left bank 2000 Bordeaux. Even after all the hype of '05, '09, '10, '15, '16, etc., etc., I'm not sure that 2000 won't still be the best. No sign of aging, but probably hitting its early drinking somehow - dark color, wonderful fruit, gorgeous nose.

10/26/18, 7:13 AM - South, Gruaud is my thing, and I tell you my friend, these wines need to age a long, long time before they lift their skirts above the knees. The 2000 is still about 10 years too young and probably the last of the classic CGL style of terroir packed, green, age requiring wines. I don't know what the hell they are producing now. I stopped buying after 2010 and clearly had no interest in anything that I tasted since, especially the 2015. For what its worth...HOLD HOLD HOLD.

10/26/18, 9:32 PM - Purple, I hear you, and think the bigger 2000 left bank Bordeaux won't be getting close to the peak until much closer to 2025. But if you've got a few bottles of this, it's worth it to pop one of these now "in the name of science", so to speak. I had to make space for my 2015 Bordeaux and Red Burgs (my retirement wines!) in my long-term storage locker back in Chicago (I've been in the DC area since '10), and the 2000 Gruaud was among the wines coming back with me. With beef bourguignon and cassoulet, it was outstanding!

10/27/18, 7:07 AM - South, you are a smart man. Yes, I have a couple of cases of this, and I have a couple o mags as well.I drank this in a lineup of some mid-level bordeaux earlier in the year and was not as impressed as I was when I started accumulating it (around 2008)...But I know this wiine is going to be a light-footed, weightless, stinky bordeaux of old with time. Cheers amigo, be well.
