October 27, 2018 - Incredibly viscous and powerful on entry, and still managing to carry out a notable balance across the palate; all the while, its delivery (though intense and driven) was still fairly seamless. Super mouth-coating all the way around. Mid-palate was notable, with an acidity that played well with the fruit and framed it firmly but not overly gripping or biting. Tannic without being harsh or astringent. The booze was present for most of consumption, but didn’t detract from the overall experience.

A lot of purple, red, and black fruit going in here. Red and black raspberry and black cherry dominant, with some red cherry jam, wild blackberry, menthol, and faint river rock. Toward the final sips, this was pushing into the 96-97 point range, though the alcohol was still fairly present in the finish, making for a bit of a primary back end. Blame youth here, as this has a good deal of time ahead of it before it will reach its apex.

Unless it rains Scarecrow at your house or you host gladiator fight clubs on your helicopter pad at your mansion in Dubai on Tuesday nights, best to be prudent with your duckets and hold for a few years on this wine before popping the cork. It was a great wine to experiment with on this night, but its potential for more greatness with time is worth being patient for. It was surprisingly accessible, but ideally hold until after 2022-2023++.

Amazing! You have been marked in my favs for a long time. Sorry I haven't been posting notes. Life has been getting in the way....

12/11/18, 10:56 AM - Hey brother! Life certainly has a way of getting in the way of things no doubt... but in the way of wine..? Unacceptable! You gotta get it back to the top of the list! Haha! ...especially since your past notes have been extremely well written and informative!

Well I certainly need to watch my wallet with these sorts of wines, so I can’t just be popping corks of Scarecrow and Harlan with runway models in Milan. Best to hold for us peasants who are trying to find the optimum drinking window. It’s good now, but it needs to integrate the booze more; it shows especially primary on the back end. Here’s to being patient! ......(which I suck at).
