November 11, 2018 - I like Marcarini. It's never particularly flashy, complicated, or with the expense that those sometimes imply, but it's very drinkable and with enough nuance and detail to maintain my interest for 750mL worth of time. That makes it a decent addition to a Sunday evening. This one was popped and poured, and I'm sure it would have benefited from a few hours in a decanter and, at a minimum, a bit of time to stand. It's probably mature. There's some typical dried red fruit and potpourri notes. The tannins that are left are fine-grained, and that does provide some backbone. Red but with an autumnal edge. Solid stuff.
