November 16, 2018 - Currant, black cherry, gravel, and earth notes lead the way, with a notable grippy minerality that elevates this wine beyond just being your average throwdown NV. Medium weight mid-palate, with a finish that brings more black fruit and stone to the profile. Surprisingly layered and focused considering its price point. 90-92 points. A decent enough entry level Cabernet for those who aren’t looking to geek-out too much on their wines. Drink now and over the next 3-5 years.
Served next to a 2014 Hall Napa Valley, which showed fruity and flat compared to the more nuanced Phelps.1 person found this helpful 6,690 views

1/9/19, 11:11 PM - Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised by this little wine given its larger production. There was some complexity there that was better than most of your average mid-range grocery store Cabs. Cheers!
