December 1, 2018 - Splash decanted on a whim, just got 4 bottles and was dying to try one w/ dinner, each glass improved so totally agree with the longish decant (if possible) recommended in a couple of the TN's below. A great QPR wine and highly recommend this. Quintessential old world wine and at this stage of development a truly mature aglianico but not a typical Italian wine - minimal acidity or brightness and tannins very well integrated and soft. Very dark purple, no bricking, mature / balanced / softening with an extremely lengthy aftertaste. Dark aromatic nose of dark cherry, dark plum, violet and mocha. Smooth well balanced palate with good minerality and otherwise earthy with dark plum, tar and a hint of smoke on the end. In a great drinking window, no further upside to further cellaring and with proper cellaring anticipate at least another 3 good years.
