December 9, 2018 - (From a magnum decanted for one hour.) What a beautiful nose! It is filled with all the scents you would expect from a maturing southern Rhone—ripe plums and berries, bacon, earth, garrigue, and a nice dose of barnyard. In the mouth it is full bodied with a lush, creamy texture. Sweet plum and cherry flavors layer perfectly with savory meat drippings, mushroom, espresso, anise and black pepper. The flavors are satisfyingly deep, seductively voluptuous and very, very generous. The long, silky finish is distinguished by an interplay of sweet and sour elements. Simply delicious with tons of life ahead! 95+ points. Incidentally, the wine was served with a roasted turkey glazed with a smoky, hoisin-based, Asian barbecue sauce. It complemented the dish perfectly!
