January 30, 2019 - Decanted 5 hours. I would never guess this was an Italian wine since I didn´t smell the rust/oxide/sulfur I always get from them. Soft and rounded blue fruit with no hard edges. A lot of dark fruit in here,floral.. Kind of....boring at this stage. I don´t know how this will evolve but today is an ok wine that is kind of tight and boring. I have zero experience with Italian wines and I favor Napa cabs by a huge margin, maybe some of you love this style but I choose a Caymus SS, a Buccella, or a TOR cabs any day over this wine. Have 2 cases at home, maybe in 2 or 3 years will open a bottle.

If you're into new world style wine, which your profile indicates, this is clearly not the wine for you.

I do not understand why you bought 2 cases of this then. The old world style is kinda basic info you can find immediately when searching the internet.

Oh well, hope it grows on you.

    Regards,

1/31/19, 7:52 AM - Thanks for your comments. Oh Such a good question you made there! I have the answer. I am 49 years old and I have been drinking wine for about 16 years or so. My taste buds from the begining to today have changed quite a bit and I know that in the not so distant future I will begin to gravitate to much more austere wines....it is already happening to me. I no longer favor the Mollyddokers Style of wine that 5 years ago I was fan #1. So, all the old world wine that I am buying is for future consumption for lets say 2025+ and at that time this wines should start drinking at their prime from there onwards. My Cos D Estournel, Pavie, Pontet Canet, among mano others will be waiting for me and I am hopeful I Will apreciate them as I should. But yeah, I agree, it seems odd that I am buying stuff that I do not enjoy a lot today. Thanks again.

1/31/19, 8:02 AM - I see... I also just noticed you have quite a gap in your tasting notes (2016 to 2018), so seems to make sense.

Still quite a gamble if you ask me.

Thanks for your time to clarify!

    Next stop, burgundy maybe?

    Regards,
