February 3, 2019 - Deep dark purple in color. Notes of Blackberry, vanilla, licorice, and pepper on nose and palate. Dry, med+ body, nice acidity, elegant tannins. This wine is not all about the packaging, but it is still impressive. Very big, and still very young. Straight out of bottle was a fruit bomb. But after some time decanting started to mellow out. Will be great in another 5 years.

2/7/19, 7:01 PM - You bugger! I'm curious how it would compare to Carnival of Love. I had a 2009 Carnival that was beautiful. Did the nose become more complex after some air? Tertiary notes?

2/7/19, 10:05 PM - The VG was just a notch above. I loved the Carnival, but the glove just had a little more elegance to it. I think I drank it way too early though. I think in 10 years this wine would have been stunning. I had a 98 Elderton Command Shiraz the same night and the additional 11 years made the wine that much less a fruit bomb and more classy

2/8/19, 7:07 AM - It's more than double the price I believe. I recently obtained a 2004 Grange for $350 (pre-tax). I tasted a vertical in November at a dinner and it was good, but not what the current price is for sure. If you like those Aussie thugs, Torbreck Run Rig I actually think is the best qpr.
