February 9, 2019 - Purplish red with medium plus to high optical density and medium reflectivity. Aromas of plum, sagebrush, spices and flowers. Some mint leaf and gravel aromas also add-in with some time in glass. Decent complexity and appealing nose, with medium intensity. Full bodied and with refreshing acidity on the palate. Polished texture with nice concentration and a density that is medium, but still toward plush. Sensation of some moderate richness in the mouthfeel that is still transparent and not overbearing. The attack shows flavours of rich plum and black cherry fruit with some raspberry liquorice and underbrush. The midpalate shows some forest floor and spices come in, with nice richness here too. The final transition is almost candied in nature before the tannins kick in and dry out the sweetness and make tobacco leaf and oak spices more prominent at the finish, which is medium in length. Overall, the flavour intensity is high, and the complexity medium.

This is a nice, very modern-styled BdM. Evolves nicely and provides a lot of interest. While this is a definite modern wine, it is not over the top or gaudy; it maintains a sense of elegance within its core. This is also drinking very young now, it will evolve over time I sense to provide a very interesting wine. So, for now, this is a hold! While not my very favourite style (a bit modern for my tastes), very well made and enjoyable bottle.
