March 3, 2019 - Now finally down to my last 7 bottles from a 3 case purchase back in 2010. This one may have been the best yet. Still surprisingly youthful-looking in the glass. A pretty, semi-opaque, royal purple in color, right up to the edge. Absolutely amazing on the nose. Powerful, complex aromas of dark berries, leather, spice and violets fill the glass. Full-bodied and silky in texture. Immediately saturates the palate with tangy, delicious plum, blackberry and dark currant fruit. Nicely balanced, with a moderate acidity and just a touch of oak. Shows tremendous depth and focus on the mid-palate. Builds and builds into an incredibly long and complex finish that contains alluring notes of coffee, licorice, tobacco and mineral. The velvety tannins are perfectly integrated. Just goes on and on. Could easily stand toe-to-toe with an Ornellaia or Sassicaia from the same vintage. An amazing, freakishly good bottle of wine, which still remains my choice for all-time QPR champ.
