Community Tasting Note

March 4, 2019 - Bought a case on release for $18/ at Weimax in Burlingame. What a steal! Now on the seventh bottle and three years since the sixth. On the bouquet we found creosote, menthol, ripe raspberries, worcestershire; parched earth, fresh peeled birch, and char-roasted tomatoes. The palate is still youthful and concentrated--at least after two hours in a wide-based decanter--though its old fortress of tannins is starting to dissolve. The dense and staining flavors range from dried black cherry and blueberry to hot tar, flower petals, and medicinal roots with a mineral-infused finish. We were looking for an interesting pairing for redwine vinegar braised lentils with spicy flash-fried tofu, sweet potatoes, and avocado, and this definitely did the trick. The slow evolution and continued density here suggest a long life ahead -2027.

3/8/19, 9:09 AM - I am on my last bottle from a case I have had from release. Your description is spot on. I agree with your rating and maybe even a little higher. This was a great buy.
