March 11, 2019 - Deep cherry colored. Nose shows impressive depth of fruit (lots of red and black cherries, raspberries) along with red licorice, rose petals and earth. Dusty/light tannins with zippy acidity. Crunchy, tart cherries, raspberries, pomegranate, red apple peel - there is a ton of fruit in here, but also some spicy tobacco and rhubarb notes underneath. Light and accessible but not simple, I'll hold off on opening another for a few years if I can, though, as even this level of wine from Jouan deserves some time to evolve.
