March 11, 2019 - Based off my estimation of the 2015 only needing about 5 years to shed it's grainy tannin I thought oh this has 8 years on it, it should be ready! I was wrong.

I had a sip and knew to pour it in my large decanter and let the air do it's work on it for hours.

It's very similar to the 2015 except that it's not as ripe and thus in turn sweet tobacco, coffee and whole black tea leaves are far more notable.

Your typical blue berries, currants, mint chocolate and crushed granite are also present here as were in the 15. I also pick up hints of iron.

The tannin isn't granular and ripe but more like a massive blanket from tea and coffee hiding it's profound depth.

The nose is perfumed and intoxicating and the finish just goes on and on.

I hate to say this but be patient and let this have 5-7 years more if you can.

I've read some of your notes so I'm sure you're familiar with wines in their youth their exuberance can over shadow the tannin of youth before going to sleep and you realize how much of a tannic beast it is.

This wine will still be beautiful over the course of a few days given that you're a more patient drinker than I am however if you had some 07 La Joie around I'd argue to keep it as the very young 15 is currently drinking better as the 07 is in a deep sleep.

I really enjoy this winemaker's style, including the Anakota line, and his Chateau Vignot is special.
