  March 14, 2019 - This wine changed the way I feel about cab. I grew up up in Howell mountain with Venge family. Kirks dad Nils was to be reckoned with and if you know anything about this family heirloom, you will recognize that the fruit has hasn’t fallen far from the vine. This cab has time to rest, but with patience, you will buckle. Unless you grew up with Howell mountain fruit at your footsteps, you will never understand what true mountain appellation cab is. Have you picked fruit, have you found rock, have you trecked soil on a foggy fall morning. So that, and you will appreciate that Kirk has done. He makes with wine with passion, memory of lost loved family and who he is; as a man, winemaker and friend. I love you Kirk and I am proud to be family. You are so talented and deserve to follow your dad with 100+

  3/15/19, 7:51 AM - Just FYI, Missouri Hopper isn't a mountain appellation vineyard. It is on the valley floor in Oakville, just north of Yountville.

  I was curious about the wine itself. You gave it a perfect score and I was wondering what it was about that wine that specifically compelled that for you? You make multiple mentions of Howell Mountian fruit in your note, but Missouri Hopper is Valley fruit just northwest of Yountville. In any event, just wondering about your axis of reference with the wine and the site. Thanks in advance.
