March 21, 2019 - Pnp thru a powered aerator. Deep opaque purple. Nose of smoke, blackberries and beef jerky. Taste is similar but with cranberries, iron and a stone slate quality. High tannins give it a lot of dryness and chalkiness which pairs well with the meat and stone flavors. A touch sour on the finish. Nice wine but I don't get some of the 94+ ratings I see on here.

3/21/19, 4:39 PM - Does taste better on day 2 so I recommend a good 1-2 hour decant if drinking within the next few years.

3/21/19, 7:43 PM - I find Mike's Cabs are awesome in their youth, but his Syrahs always benefit from a few years of sleep. The Halcon is probably the most approachable in my opinion, but it still needs more time and a good decant.
