March 28, 2019 - Had a couple of these in the last few days, and at 4 years from my last bottle and 10 from the vintage, I'd say it's time to drink these, although they do seem to require a short bit (~30 mins.) to open up.

Definitely on the dark and savory side of things. In fact, I'm surprised to read that this is 55%/45% grenache/syrah, respectively; I would have guessed it the other way around if not even more syrah based and perhaps with some mourvedre in the mix as well. Dense coloring here with ruby edges still. Aromas of dark fruits, graphite, black olives, and cured meats. The 15%(!) alc. here is pretty well covered, with medium body, acid, and finish, and flavors of dark fruits, licorice, minerals, olives, soy sauce, and spice. I'd pair this with beef stews and roasts, burgers, and lamb.
