April 11, 2019 - Brad E wrote about this crazy tasting where we had the Rousseau Chambertin and Clos de Beze from 90 and 91. I think we agree that all of the wines were extraordinary and that if you want a reliable epiphany experience with Burgundy, stick with Rousseau from great years with nearly 30 years of bottle age. Beyond that, choosing a favorite is really just splitting hairs. This one was my fave. In fact, on other occasions when I was fortunate enough to have a Beze and Chambertin from this producer side by side, my preference always lies with the richer, more voluminous Chambertin; others side with the elegance of the Beze. Both fabulous wines with just a slight terroir difference. If you prefer the Clos de Beze and want to give me your Chambertin, I'll gladly oblige, but either one is fine by me.
