April 19, 2019 - This was absolutely amazing on the nose. Gorgeous, powerful scents of ripe cherries, spice and vanilla completely fill the glass. Traditional in style, with a medium-to-full body and an elegant, Burgundian texture. Bone dry, yet still offers a tangy mouthful of ripe, delicious cherry, blueberry and raspberry fruit, with excellent depth and intensity. Nicely balanced, with a moderate acidity. Finishes extremely long, with lingering notes of licorice, underbrush and mineral. Still slightly tannic and oaky, this will probably get even better as it fully matures over the next couple of years. So delicious, harmonious and complex. A beautiful "traditional" Rioja that paired perfectly with our grilled duck breast. Tremendous QPR here also.
