April 28, 2019 - My first wine from Frank Cornelissen and a great experience.
Slightly lighter colour than the wines from Terre Nere. The nose is probably the most distinctive feature of this wine. Very sweet and fruity (black raspberry and strawberry), akin to juice more than wine, nicely fresh despite 14,5 ABV. In the mouth the wine is all about elegance and purity. Only moderately tannic but with a beautiful silky texture. Fruity with some dusty, rocky elements, a pleasing bitterness on the finish. With some swirling the aromatics become more powerful (always a good sign) yet the wine never looses its light touch. Somehow burgundian but overall sweeter, gentler and easier to appreciate. I can imagine the wine to age quite well, not due to its tannins but its balance; then it should add some more complexity. I will buy more and curiously await tasting the Munjebel.
