May 5, 2019 - So here we are again. By sheer coincidence a ‘pick a random bottle and create a meal that matches’ resulted in opening this bottle. Only 3 weeks after the previous one. And this is the last one left in the cellar. Now here is only a Ugolaia ‘06 left. Again: this is some great Brunello totally in line with the previous note.

When I come to think about it, Lisini definitely has found its way up again after the somewhat lesser wines produced in the vintages after ‘99. The ‘01 and ‘04 where not very impressive while the vintages as such where great. This ‘06 has some of the freshness of fruit, that I like so much about this vintage, combined with the black fruit, smoothness and density that Lisini usually delivers.

I’m now extremely curious how the Ugolaia is doing!

When it comes to pairing: the rather ridiculous ‘let’s make a Wagyu burger and top it with some truffle cheese to make the ultimate cheeseburger’ turned out to be a brilliant stroke of luck!
Although I’m still embarrassed that we even gave it a try....
