I didn't decant this out of concern that it would be too delicate but in hindsight I think it would probably have benefited from the air. The wine is certainly at peak maturity but it shows no sign of decline. Lovely soft tannins, tertiary notes on the palate but still sufficient structure to hold the wine together. It's probably lost some of its fruit, to be expected after 35 years but its certainly not the metallic skeleton that old Bordeaux can become as it enters the vinous retirement home!
